I have tried to extend my SSP by pressing the "order" button in the "help - register - order" menu and was presented with a
"www.%1.com" not found message. Hu??

It works OK for me.
Does anyone else have a problem?

Ted.

Here it works.
The browser opens with page http://www.vedit.com/updates.htm

Which Windows version and which browser are you using?

The functions requires a registry entry to point to the default browser. It should work with IE or Firefox.
Sounds like this registry entry is missing on your computer.
(I'm in the wrong office to check the code for the actual entry.)

I'm using Opera and that works too.

It's the following VEDIT command that gets the value:
Registry_Get_Item(106,"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command\")

But that doesn't seem to be Fritz' problem because it doesn't explain
his '"www.%1.com" not found' message?
As far as I can see in regvedit.vdm ...

After having upgraded to Firefox 2.0 it tried it again -- and now the following is happening:

Firefox displays the message server www.%1.com could not be found but loads in a background tab the page http://www.vedit.com/updates.htm!

But the story continues --
I have detected another strange thing in my registration process:

I extended my SSP "manually", i.e. going to the Web page. I got my new serial no. and new expiration time for my SSP (8/5/2008). I entered the serial no into the registration dialog box.

First observation: the second segment of the serial no. has a leading "0", which was swallowed by Vedit.

Second, and more surprising, observation: I and was
presented with the message "your VEDIT support period expired at the end of 05-2003" (!).

Hihi, seems that I have spent 58$ to "downgrade" to Vedit 5.1 ...

What's going on here?

Fritz

This is a known problem that I need to fix soon.

Another (minor) problem with the register dialog box:

The dialog box says:
"You can continue using the current version, but cannot download and install newer versions. "

I thought that I could download new versions up to next major release, i.e. 7.0. It seems that the macro only checks the support date, but not the version number.

Further, I think the dialog box should have Cancel button.

The problem still persists: after having renewed my SSP last week I was told that my "support period expired at the end of 04-2007".

I am working on a new version this week to solve various support date problems.

Windows XP Prof / Firefox. Interesting thing. Will do more testing in
the evening.
