Windows version of Vedit does not have disk sector editing feature. The disk editing of DOS version works on Windows, but on NT based Windows only in read-only mode. I thought this is because NT based Windows do not allow direct disk editing.

However, when I was adding Vedit to Wikipedia page "Comparison of hex editors"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_hex_editors
I noticed that there are several hex editors listed that do support disk editing on Windows NT/2000/XP.

So how is it? Is there really some reason why disk editing could not be included in Windows version of Vedit?

I put a lot of effort into the DOS disk sector editing many years ago but never got a return on my effort, as it seemed very few people used it, and no one bought VEDIT for it.
