With the (now) default "ANSI" character set, this item is greyed out. The display font is selected with {VIEW, Font}. The installation now lets you select either "VEDIT Ansi" or "VEDIT OEM" as the initial font; "VEDIT Ansi" is now the default because it is more compatible with other Windows programs. You could have pressed for the {MISC} menu and then for on-line help for this menu. Ted.
