I have never been able to access the PDF versions of the Vedit Manuals from with Vedit either from the entries in the help menu or thru my own custom macros.

I have found a good work-around: put shortcuts to the manuals on your desktop, and then right-click on each shortcut and assign shortcut keys. In my case it is ctrl-shft-u for the user manual and ctrl-shft-m for the macro manual. In Vedit, it looks just like a keystroke macro had worked and opened the pdf file.

You do need to use two key combos that are not used in your Vedit keyboard layout.

I never have experienced any problem with that. Maybe it is important to download the version "... manuals included?"

Fritz

Thanks.

That would explain why it doesn't work from the help menu, but not why when using a custom macro. Very strange. Anyways, I am happy with my workaround. Just wanted to share it in case anyone else had a problem.

You don't say what version of Windows you are using, but the following may help

Thanks Scott,

I would like to look at your macro.

Since in your other message you say that have uploaded it to the vedit ftp site, I take that you have uploaded this one there too.

I tried it and my browser complained about security. So, I would appreciate your uploading it again to this forum. Personally, I had a lot of trouble with such an upload, until I learned to use the "check box" on top, saying that Attach a file or picture.

Thanks,

-peter

Hi Peter,

The stuff about the PDF manuals is not a macro. I am using Windows XP. When I talk about shortcuts, I am talking about the Windows Shortcuts. When I talk about the keyboard shortcuts, I am talking about the ones you can assign when you right-click on a Windows shortcut and click on properties.

There is no Vedit macro involved.
