I have incorporated Christian's "wild guess" into your YAP.VDM. Since I would like to have all of the TeX material in this Conference I took the liberty of making this new posting.
I take that Christian went back to basics and wanted to alert us that using the VEDITTEMP configuration string there are hidden conditions. For example, if I overwrite this configuration string in my USTARTUP.VDM file, it may point to a none existent directory or to a directory with a hidden attribute. So, I added a Requirement section to your macro.
Also, for my own benefit, I did some minor editing.
I shall try to upload this macro, and I am really looking forward to hearing your reactions.
P.S
You are absolutely right, YAP.VDM is a simple macro and it should make no difference whether I am using with or without administrative privileges. My troubles came from YAP.EXE and
the error message was about the "abnormal termination of YAP.EXE.
Let me emphasize it again, when the consultant signed in with administrative privileges, everything worked
like a charm!
