I tried several times to change the MaxMRU parameter in VEDIT.INI in order to increase the number of Most Recently Used files listed in the FILE menu. But every time I started Vedit again, the value was changed back to 4.

It seems that Vedit re-writes the VEDIT.INI file every time Vedit is closed.

I finally resolved the problem by using another editor to edit the VEDIT.INI file. After that, the new value I entered took effect.

So, I guess, if you want to change the VEDIT.INI file, you can not do that with Vedit.

I had the same problem, fixed the same way. Ted, are you going to fix this?

This has been fixed in 5.16.1. VEDIT no longer changes this value in VEDIT.INI, so the edited value will remain.

Yes, there often is a problem editing the VEDIT.INI file with the Windows
version of VEDIT, especially values such as InitSize and the font values
which can change while VEDIT is running.

Unfortunately, 5.15.1 is re-saving the old value of MaxMRU into the
VEDIT.INI file. We will correct this (not save it) in the next release.

Out of habit, I always use the DOS version of VEDIT to edit the VEDIT.INI
file.

Although only practical from a DOS prompt, you could also edit the VEDIT.INI
file with the Windows version of VEDIT with the following command:

vpw -k vedit.ini

The "-k" option suppresses reading or writing the VEDIT.INI file.

Of course, it would be better if MaxMRU could be set from the Setup menu.
