Hello,

I have some problems with the menu command, {Misc,Save and run programs}.

After opening a .tex file in Vedit, I start up this menu command. As per instructions I enter ## latex a the dialog box.

Then I get an error message:

CANNOT OVERWRITE READ-ONLY FILE

C:\TEXVOLS\

I got switched to Buffer 100 and a c:\vedit\veditsav.env
file was loaded. I tried to save this file, but I had to do it under a different name. I called it veditsav.txt. I shall try to upload it.

Incidentally, I have no trouble running latex via {Misc, DOS shell} or {Misc, Run Program}.

Thanks,

-peter.

The proper syntax is "latex ##", which works fine for me.

Thanks Fritz:

This is exactly that I did. Then I made a typo in my message.

To make sure that I do not make this typo twice, I am uploading my runshell.vdm file. I get the same error message from the other commands on this submenu, as well.

Also, I did rename my old runshell.vdm in my archive directory to old_runshell.vdm.

Thanks again,

-peter.

runshell.vdm for diagnostics only.

you may try to clean up the save facility of VEDIT [File, Edit
restore} which is used here.

Perhaps there is an old (and corrupt) save-file around...

1) Close VEDIT
2) Have a look at your VEDIT directory and your working directories
and delete all files named VEDITSAV.DAT and VEDITSAV.ENV
3) Try {Misc,Save and run programs} again

Just a guess.

Christian

Thanks Christian:

I bet this is it! (Somehow, the pieces seem to fit together).

I shall try it right away!
