I use right-click > Send to open Vedit and work on a file from Explorer. Sometimes it is more convenient to find a second related file to load from Explorer rather than using the file open window.

But this loads a second instance of Vedit. I would like to see the second (or third, or fourth) file selected from Explorer loaded into a new buffer in the currently loaded Vedit.

Is this possible? Thanks.

Ian P.

Set CONFIG, Miscellaneous, Instance control to 1

Also read the appropriate section on Instance control in the help file.

We assume of course that your have VEDIT 6.10 or later; older versions are not supported. I don't recall when all the instance control issues were fixed.

For double-clicking on associated file-types, be sure the file-type was
associated using {CONFIG, Assocate file type}. If you associate using only Explorer, double-clicking a file may open in another instance.

Ted.

Thanks to both you and Ted. I do have version 6.1 but did not realize instance had been fixed. I last tried it perhaps 1 1/2 - 2 years ago and got very frustrated at the time. Must have had a mental block when I read the list of fixes/improvements.
