Hi :-)

I often like to view the non-printing chars and such to have good visual control of the text.

I searched in the Help files and looked around the webboard but I couldn't find a way to make the whitespace and CR carriage returns visible (though not print the visible renderings of those chars)

Is it possible to display (though not print) the whitespace and other such chars?

Many thanks :-)

Simply press (hotkey for {View, Toggle display mode}) several times to toggle into the desired mode.

Ted.

For viewing control characters, I have found the function "View" -> "Toggle hex mode split" more handy.

Or you could change the Newline, Tab and Null display character options in "Config" -> "Characters/Cursors".

By the way, it would be nice to have option to display control characters in different color (e.g. gray).
This would make the display less messy.
Maybe on option for this could be added to "Config" -> "Editing colors" tab?

Further, it would be nice to be able to see the actual position of Tab character.
That is, a separate option for Tab Display character and Tab Fill character.
(Now, the "Tab display character" is actually Tab Fill character.)

For example, if Tab Display char=":" and Tab Fill char=".", it would be displayed
now:
...................testing
better:
.......:.......:...testing

Look under "Display modes" (BTW, it's no bad idea to get familiar with th
e
manuals, which are supplied as PDF's and provide further instruction). Or
klick into the VIEW menu, item "toggle display mode".
